I liked the presentations by Grant, Brent, and Ben the most. I think I was the most impressed by Grant’s, since it was clear that he had gotten really into his project and did a pretty good job of presenting his ideas outside of a blind formalism.
For some reason, the most interesting thing to me was the idea that proteins could be folded into knots. Thinking of them as little pieces of string that are constantly wiggling that sometimes knot themselves is pretty crazy to imagine.

I also enjoyed Grant’s presentation. It was very informative and in depth while requiring minimal threshold of basic understanding in topology. The topic was interesting, and he definitely knew what he was talking about.

The knot theory applied to polymers and proteins is some really exciting stuff, I’ve learned a lot from that presentation, and it makes a good case for existence of immediate practical applications of topology and knot theory that can yield a lot to the process efficiency.
