More great presentations this week to finish the semester off. I think everyone gave great presentations and I can’t decide on a favorite, so I’m going to say something I liked about each presentation.
Anders gave a well thought out definition of a sandwich and gave a clear and entertaining talk. Bryan’s description of how he analyzed the pieces was very clear with examples to show his process, and his use of music in his actual presentation made the differences between the genres very clear, which he also found in his data. Joe also gave a good description of how he built a dataset from novels, and the TDA techniques he employed. Bo found interesting stimuli-dependent topological structure in the visual cortex of mice which certainly could progress neurological research. Camen’s image processing and genus counter software seems to work well, and his presentation was very well-prepared overall.
Every presentation this week had significant results that invite future research, and I am excited to see where everyone takes their work.
