My favorite presentation of the week has to be Anders’ attempt to define a sandwich. At first I thought this was going to be a stretch, but it turned out to provoke a lot of thought, and it was entertaining! What I liked most was that it reflected some kernel of the drive from which mathematical knowledge is formed- an exploration into definition and the discoveries which come with it.

The topic depends on how to think of the problem. So there is no right or wrong as long as the definition is consistent with math. The space he called sandwich might have more properties to be discovered.

I too was worried about how Anders was going to approach the topic and I was blown away by how well he did. He outlined his motivations, process, and results very well.
