My favorite presentation was Akhil’s because I’m fascinated with geometrical effects in physics and he tackled a complicated subject. The formidable math is pretty abstract and can be daunting. I’d like to see more on that since it is more applied than I was. Some examples would be cool too. There’s some really neat stuff there, to be sure.
As for the best talk, I think that goes to Ben. Trying to incorporate abstraction, which is a big piece of math, into common education is pretty powerful. In addition, you can introduce students to advanced math which is a plus! The lesson plans got at that pretty well. I liked the one having students try to make the connection between graphs and the Euler characteristic. Another big connection, and probably inspiring, is that functions and numbers behave very similarly under addition and multiplication. So why not name that structure…
