My favorite presentation of the week was Grant’s classification of surfaces. His slides are clean and informative with the right proportion of pictures and text. I thought the diagrams were very helpful. The triangulation of surfaces seemed pretty interesting and useful especially with regard to basic understanding of algebraic and geometric topology. The flow of the presentation was very clear, and the explanations were logical and easy to follow. Overall it was a good presentation!

Right, Grant made his subject really easy to understand. The diagrams and the clean powerpoint helped a lot!

Diagrams in particular were very helpful. It was a fairly complicated topic but Grant definitely did a good job making approachable.
